And… Breathe..

The fact that I’m going home for Christmas tomorrow doesn’t seem real. This term has been such a blur – the shortest I’ve ever had! To all you first and second years, it may seem tough at times, but try to savour every moment you have here because the further you get into your degree, the faster time flies. This term has definitely been one of my best and with graduation looming just around the corner, I finally feel like I’m beginning to truly appreciate Bristol, the incredible friends I have here and the memories we’ve made together (Apologies for the sentimentality, but I can’t help feeling an overwhelming sense of nostalgia as the end of my degree approaches). This term I’ve been given a scary but refreshing amount of freedom, being able to conduct my own research and interviews for the extended essay I’m writing on community theatre. My Devised module has had me sewing a ridiculous amount of pom poms on to headdresses, spending hours making scale-model windows and drawing on virtually naked performers for a marketing photoshoot. I’m so proud of everyone who was involved in the production and despite being one of the most stressful things I’ve ever been a part of, I’ve taken so much from it and will never forget the experience.Theatre has definitely seen one of its busiest couple of weeks to date, but being the unique department it is, we always manage to find the time for the annual evening of mince pies and mulled wine. Students from all years singing along to some cheesy Christmas classics with staff from both film and theatre – such a merry way to end the term and so emblematic of the department as a whole. Merry Christmas Bristol, can’t wait for next year.
