END OF TERM 1, YEAR 2

There couldn’t have been a bigger contrast between the beginning of my second year and the beginning of my first year, as I had a bit of a rough time at the start of first year- I moved halls and it took a while for me to feel comfortable. At the start of my second year I immediately felt settled in my new house. I’ve absolutely loved living in a house this year as opposed to halls, it feels so lovely to have somewhere you can properly call a ‘home’.
I took an English module this term (Gender, Desire and the Renaissance Stage) which I found hard to adjust to as it feels quite different to my Theatre modules in both the way it is taught and marked. But I enjoyed the challenge- the only difficulty I had was keeping up with the reading. Alongside my other modules (Performance Histories and Early Modern Theatre Practice, which I absolutely loved) I was had to read three plays (in a language that felt quite alien to me) and several essays, and I found it quite hard to keep up.
I have found the increase in workload a massive leap. Last year I had the time to do many more extra-curricular shows and activities, but I’ve struggled to fit so much in this term. I have chosen to prioritise some societies over others, so this term I have been focussing on volleyball (I play for Ladies 1st team and we’re currently top of our league!), Epigram (I’m Deputy Film & TV Editor) and Studiospace (I’m Theatre Rep so Executive Produce all of the shows). This has meant I have less time to Direct my own shows which I’m sad about but it is an aim of mine to make this a priority next term.
