The first term of university is a strange one; leading up to Christmas and saying goodbye to all my new friends for the holidays made me think how only three months ago I didn’t even know these people existed. Yet now I can’t imagine not knowing them. That’s one of the amazing aspects of university; the people you come to care for and the amount of support you receive.
There may be exams coming around the corner but there is a very noticeable generally lower stress level; my particular course is just marked on coursework so I can’t relate personal experience but watching those around me there isn’t the same raw panic that came with high school and sixth form exams. I guess it’s because at least at university you’re studying what you enjoy. I’ve really loved my first term here and although I’m looking forward to spending time at home I am going to miss my time away from Bristol; even if it is only for three weeks!
