Teaching Block Two

After some frantic essay writing in January, it has been nice to get back into the steady routine of days spent in the library and weekly seminars. So far this term I am really enjoying my units; it is really enjoyable in third year with Humanities and Social Science subjects to have the flexibility to write about things that you are actually really interested in and care about, rather than just having basic units which, whilst useful and still interesting, are compulsory and so perhaps feel more like work. In summer I will have three essays and one exam, so my weekly work is all about reading around these topics and making sure I’m really prepared for my essays.
We are all suddenly realising that we don’t have that much longer left at Bristol so everyone is busy making the most of our last five months here. Hockey matches on a Wednesday afternoon are still proving to make a good break from work, and I have really enjoyed being Captain of a team this year. This term I am also back in a Primary School class doing Philosophy lessons with Year 5; I am really enjoying getting to know a new class and seeing how they respond to the lessons. It is also a really useful experience which will help prepare me for when I start Teach First in September and have a class of my own to teach!
Even though everyone is extremely busy with job applications, dissertations and general work, we are all still finding time to enjoy living in such a great city and making the most of our remaining time in Bristol.
