My Return To Bristol

It seemed surreal coming back to my university life in Bristol after spending a month long Christmas holiday at home. The thought of getting back into a routine that didn’t involve having dinner cooked for me every night seemed a world away- yet, almost instantly when arriving back in my room at Northwell House I sank back into my independent routine which I had missed. Doing Film and Television means I do not have exams, instead I had a couple of essays to do over the Christmas holidays; which were a surprisingly enjoyable break from all the relaxation and eating I’d been doing during the vacation. Once back in Bristol, thoughts turned to the new units I’d be learning on the course and having now started lectures, I am thoroughly enjoying learning more in depth topics such the work of Alfred Hitchcock, which promises to be an entertaining and interesting subject. Among the excitement of beginning new units, the pressure of finding a house to live in next year was looming. In my first week back in Bristol, my friends and I had scheduled multiple house viewings, and with a group of 9, we knew we were running out of time to find our ideal property. We kept our options open, looking at flats and houses in numerous areas within our budget and, by the skin of our teeth, we signed on a great property that ticks all the boxes. Although the stress of it all is over and I’m extremely pleased with our new house, we have learnt a valuable lesson to start looking for properties much earlier in the process to ensure we find a great home and to get the best deal.
